From Montresor, Amarone classico del Fondatore is dense plum black in colour and has a complex nose showing notes of black cherry, plum fruit and violets. The palate is smooth and round with a rich raisiny character, supple tannins and a long, and complex, finish. Threatens to be sweet but in fact finishes quite dry.
Made from a blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara grapes cultivated in selected vineyards on the hills of the most ancient part of Valpolicella.
