Domaine Daulny Sancerre Blanc 2018

Dry White

Our Price: £19.95 per bottle

Domaine Daulny consists of 16 hectares of vines which have been in the family for many generations. Based in Chaudenay, Etienne Daulny owns prime parcels scattered across the Sancerre AOC, notably vines in Les Monts Damnés, Les Bois Butteux, and La Perrière. Daulny favours stainless steel tanks for fermentation and inhibits malolactic fermentation in this Sancerre. The resulting wine is clean and bright, a very appealing ready-to-drink Loire Sauvignon. The vineyards have an average age of 21 years and are predominantly planted on the South and South Westerly facing slopes for maximum sunlight exposure. Two different soil structures add complexity to the wine – the “Caillottes” are very stony, hilly vineyards whilst the “Marnes Blanches” are made up of clay-limestone on a steep slope. The wines are made with a very long, cool fermentation with ageing on the fine lees for the whites to add texture to the eventual wine.

A stunning example of classic Sauvignon Blanc. Pure, crisp grassy fruit on the nose with hints of blackcurrant leaf. Lean, racy and concentrated on the palate with complex flavours of citrus and mineral.
