We’ve tasted this
This wine is light gold in colour. The nose is lively and fresh with aromas of pineapple. Beautifully rounded on the palate with pear and passionfruit flavours and a slightly buttery finish.
Cuvee de l’Amitie (Friendship cuvée) is a wine made with 100% Chardonnay grapes grown outside Carcassonne in the South of France. The vineyards is located in between Corbières and Minervois and benefits from a unique terroir.
This Chardonnay is planted on the reclaimed salt-water lagoon of Marseillette. Around 15 million years ago, the water levels decreased little by little leaving layers of sediments and salt. When the Mediterranean sea got to the point where it is now (around 2 million years ago) it had left 2000ha of stagnant water full of reeds and samphire which is today the Etang de Marseillette. To remove the salt which has built up in the soils, certain parts of the lagoon are flooded each year. The vineyards is therefore flooded during 40 days in winter in order to get rid of the salt content. On this extraordinary land we can produce un-grafted vines which produce grapes with intense flavours and a crisp acidity.
