Famille Perrin Cotes du Rhone Reserve Rouge

1 review

Lots of fruit, good freshness and character. The Grenache/Syrah duo blends perfectly. Pretty aromas of red and black fruit, good aromatic intensity and the palate is fresh and generous. The silky tannins accompany a long aromatic finish.
Great with lamb or beef casserole dishes.

A lighter Cotes du Rhone

At £12.99 and 13.5% this is a nice example of the Rhone /GSM blend and a great accompaniment for Sunday lunch. I opted to decant it but I don't think it needed it. On the nose: plenty of depth from the grenache and a fruitiness from the syrah. To taste: fruity and full flavoured but still relatively light on the palate. You get all the traditional gsm flavours, raspberry, blackberry, herbs and spices, plus a little milk chocolate. All of this is delivered with a little acidity but still a super smooth feel, and with a fairly long finish. If you like a spicy Rhone then this isn't for you, but as a full flavoured, lighter GSM blend it is a winner.
