Wakefield Estate Shiraz
A soft and fleshy shiraz boasting a lively palate of juicy red berry fruits, plum and spice, along with subtle chocolate hints.
Wine Description
The wine has a seductive, lifted aroma characterised by plum, blackcurrant and dark cherry fruits along with subtle chocolate and a touch of oak derived spice. The palate is rich, luscious and round with intense, perfectly ripened fruit characters. Mocha coffee and subtle spice characters complement generous fruit flavours of plum and blackberry. The wine is medium to full-bodied with a soft mid-palate and supple tannins. It has a well balanced structure with great texture, good length and lashings of fruit on the finish.
Tasted recently. Amazing concentration of flavour. warm ripe black fruit with good spice to finish.

The Taylor family's long-standing association with the Clare Valley begins in the late 1950's when as Sydney wine merchants, they partner with the Clare Valley Co-operative to bottle and distribute their own wines under the Chateau Clare label. Then, inspired by the great producers of Bordeaux, and with a vision to craft wines that rival the best in the world, the Taylor family begin an exploration to find the perfect plot of land on which to establish their family estate. On July 21st, 1969, their quest brought them to a site by the Wakefield River in South Australia's Clare Valley. So on the same day that Neil Armstrong takes man's first steps onto the moon, Bill Taylor takes his first steps on the soil that will eventually become the family estate.

Showcase your best productsHaving tasted many Shirazes over the years, this is my go-to £12-14 bottle. Wakefield (Taylors in Oz) have won many gold and silver medals for their wines, and this one is tremendous value. Their St Andrews is even better, but then that’s north of c £30.
Good tasting red wine. Goes well with meaty dinners but I enjoy mine with veggie creations to. My favourite combo is with a strong blue cheese !
Love this wine.
I have been a fan of Wakefields for a few years, they have never disappointed. This Shiraz is no exception
