Ridge Geyserville

First produced in 1966, this is Ridge’s 57th consecutive vintage of Geyserville. The grapes are grown in three adjoining vineyards on a single soil type, deposited by an ancient washout of the Russian River that carried river stone and gravel. It is approximately one-and-a-quarter miles long and a half-mile wide.
2022 was the third year of drought with only 635mm of rainfall throughout the season. Thankfully, spring rains helped the vines but caused shatter to the Zinfandel, reducing the crop. Two heat spells pushed the vines to another early harvest which took place between 22nd August and 13th September. The grapes were crushed and fermentation proceeded with natural yeast followed by full malolactic fermentation. The wine was aged for 16 months in air-dried American oak barrels (28% new, 25% two-yearold, and 23% over three years old).
