The principal grape in Rioja wines from Spain. Tempranillo usually exhibit flavors of plum and strawberries. A black grape it produces full bodied wines, often blended with Garnacha and Mazuelo, known as Carignan in France. Now planted in Australia and blended, also in Portugal known as Tinto Roriz, used in Port production.
