Prosecco

From northern Italy this sparkling wine has been the success story of the decade. Named after the village of Prosecco the wine is made from Glera grapes. There are basically two types of Prosecco, Frizzante and Spumante. The Spumante has a traditional Champagne cork closure, while the Frizzante has a normal wine bottle cork as it is less fizzy. The Spumante which is much more popular has 2 levels of quality, DOC and DOCG. Within DOCG there is another class “Rive” which is from a single vineyard, top quality.
